Did you know...
870,000 girls in Kenya are missing 4 days of school every month due to a lack of sanitary pads and underwear?
Peter Nduati, CEO of Resolution Health, an East African Health Insurance company, calls this a “national crisis.”
ZanaA will be keeping adolescent Kenyan girls in school by first coordinating the current free distribution already taking place, and second by developing environmentally friendly, locally-made sanitary pads, helping girl regain 3.5 million learning days each month.
NEWS FLASH: ZANAAFRICA IS THE 2009 WINNER OF THE WHARTON AFRICAN BUSINESS FORUM BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION. Called "game changing" by the judges, this win takes ZanaAfrica to the next level in solving a national challenge in a sustainable, replicable way. We are now seeking PRI funding from forward-thinking private or family foundations to reach the next level.
This Thanksgiving we are celebrating a $50,000 gift from a private family foundation! We are seeking two other family foundations to match this, which would ensure that 50% of our Empowerment Club financing is met for 2009 and we can help over 3,000 girls each week.
