Chief Operations Officer
Caroline Gitau leads the creation, design and implementation of policies, internal financial controls, human resource, asset management, administration, and overall day-to-day operations for both ZanaAfrica Foundation & ZanaAfrica Group. Previously, she served in Executive Director and COO positions in organizations ranging from media, gender based violence prevention to international health and education non-profits. In those roles she has directed all aspects of a non-profit organization, led large-scale regional expansion of programs, developed governance structures, created and managed budgets and built and retained the organizations’ talent pool. Caroline has co-authored two articles on Gender-based Violence prevention and Adolescent Health in the Journals of American Pediatrics and Journal of Adolescent Health. She is passionate about programs focused on women and girls in the areas of human rights, GBV, poverty alleviation, and research. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the United States International University-Africa in International Relations and is a 2015 Young African Leaders Initiative Network Fellow.
