Meet Alice

Alice Kombo is a mentor in our Nia program, working with adolescent boys and girls. Watch the video below to hear about her experience working with young people from her own community, supporting them through a tough period with many transitions and changes.

“I chose to be a mentor because I have grown up in the same community. So I’ve had the opportunity to see what adolescents are going through. I had the opportunity to learn the problems that adolescents, both girls and boys, get.”

Alice with her mentees!

“During lockdown, there was a time when pupils were not supposed to go to school…Nia helped, because…in the class I was mentoring…they were able to overcome challenges like dropping out of school, early pregnancy, child labor, because they had the information. They knew what their goals were, and they wanted to achieve their goals.”
